Welcome

Brookfield Kindergarten is a place where families are welcome and everyone is celebrated as a unique individual.  In partnership with families we care, share, respect, motivate and encourage holistic children's learning.  We provide an environment in which a child has opportunities to imagine, create, question, predict, explore, participate and discover, and most importantly, having fun along the way.

Brookfield Kindergarten operates under the umbrella of the Tauranga Regional Free Kindergarten Association Inc. The Association provides policy guidelines, direction and consistent expectations vision aspires to be progressive leaders in education by providing accessible, innovative, and inspirational programmes within diverse teaching/learning environments.

The kindergarten now operates under the Government's 20 free hour system for all three and four year olds attending.

All children who attend our kindergarten are provided with an on going record of their learning through their electronic - portfolio system. Photos are taken with a digital camera and this along with documented observations provides a visual record of learning and involvement it the programme. This is accessible for viewing to parents at any time during the kindergarten day and the child is given their own CD and certificate when they leave.

Through the use of the computer, parents can also look at information on emergent planning and documenting and the happenings that take place during their child's time at the kindergarten.

Children are given opportunities to experiment, explore and solve problems with a high focus on maths and scientific learning and literacy. Children also enjoy many ways to be creative and are given opportunities to make choices and accept challenges.

We appreciate parents involvement in the programme and in their child's learning. Parents are encouraged to come and spend time at the kindergarten.
A kindergarten committee made up of dedicated parents meet once a month to discuss options for fundraising and work closely with the teachers. All parents are welcome to join.
